The Waiting List administrator is responsible for maintaining the waiting list for Beavers. Unfortunately with current demand it is unlikely you will get a place in scouting if you do not have a place in Beavers. A name can be placed on the list at the earliest during the academic year they are 5 (reception). There are 20 spaces available for each academic year. Contact details are available on the web site.

In addition to the visible leaders there are other largely unseen but essential voluntary roles with in the scout group. This is the executive committee who basically ensure the Group can run smoothly, looking after the financial, legal and charity aspects of scouting and of course the Scout Hall. They hold an AGM which is open to all.

Radyr Scout Group is run entirely by volunteers most of whom have children going through the scouting movement currently or at some time in the past. It cannot continue without these volunteers and that includes you.

Reasons for not volunteering...

I don't have time.

I don't have the skills.

Working with kids isn't for me.

Reasons for volunteering...

It takes as little as turning up once a week and assisting as much from there on as you feel you can give.

If you can read then you have the skills we need!  There is a wealth of knowledge on the Scout Base Website and from current Leaders.  There is also training and support offered at every stop.  You're never left on your own.

You're not the child's parent or teacher in this setting.  The rewards are huge and you will get a great sense of satisfaction and achievement.  Giving something back to your community is a worthwhile and compassionate use of your time.  Plus, it doesn't look bad on your CV and is a great chance to meet new people.
