Leaders are volunteers, usually (but not always) parents of children currently going through the scouting movement. They are all CRB checked and have to undertake anything from 2 up to 17 + sessions of training for their wood beeds. Leaders volunteer for many reasons. Some to ensure their children have the benefits of scouting, some because they really, really enjoy it and some because they want to repay the opportunities they were given as children.

Help from parents may be requested for various reasons; sometimes we need higher ratios of adults if we go out on walks etc., sometimes there may not be enough leaders to run the evening programme. Some sections are considering the possibility of parent rota. These are the reasons why we ask every family to have at least one parent who is CRB checked for The Scout Association. Unfortunately we cannot accept CRB’s from other organisations.

There are various names of the leaders taken form themes such as the Jungle Book (cubs), Lion King and Ice age (Beavers). The Group Scout Leader has overall responsibility for the smooth running of the group and is our route up to District level. The GSL is responsible for all CRB enquiries.
